Dr. Ron Knipling has 40 years of experience in traffic safety R&D with emphasis on driver human factors and motor carrier safety. He has authored more than 130 technical reports and publications, and made more than 100 professional conference presentations, most related to large truck safety. His human factors specialty areas include driver risk, crash causation, driver fatigue, hours-of-service, and carrier safety management. He also has extensive experience in crash data analysis, technology assessment, and naturalistic driving (instrumented vehicle) studies. Dr. Knipling has held senior university, government, and consulting positions. He works as an independent truck and road saftey researcher, consultant, and trainer and resides near Washington, D.C.
